Attractions Pieniny , Poland

Dunajec gorge

The raft trip on the Dunajec River is an amazing opportunity to see wild and unspoiled nature.
It is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Poland. It is also the best way to visit the Pieniny
National Park.
The rafting tradition began in the first half of the 19th century.
The Dunajec River has made a beautiful and romantic gorge in the limestone rocks of the
Pieniny Mountains, known as the Dunajec Gorge.
The trip is on a wooden raft in a deep canyon with a lot of curves. The river winds its way
amongst steep rocks, so the views are breathtaking.
The rafting season starts in April and ends in November. The trip begins at the raft wharf in
Sromowce Katy. It lasts 2 or 3 hours, depending on the water level. One raft can take
maximum 12 adults (and 2 raftsmen). For more info please visit http://www.flisacy.com.pl/page,27

Mountain tracks
The Pieniny Mountains are a distinct mountain range 35 kilometres long and 6 kilometres
wide. They lie between the Outer Carpathians which are made up of soft sedimentary rock
(so-called flysch), and Inner Carpathians comprised of hard crystal and limestone rocks.
Three Crowns massif is the most varied and spectacularly scenic part of the Pieniny
Mountains. Numerous craggy steep slopes and scree scarps provide habitat for unique and
remarkable wildlife species.
The track to the Sokolica Mountain starts just beside Willa Maria.
